Versatile Bio

Versatile Bio

Mobile and practical real-time biosignal acquisition amplifier, which provides great flexibility to monitor a large number of simultaneous physiological variables.

Mobile, versatile and compact biosignals amplifier

Versatile Bio is a mobile and versatile real-time biosignal amplifier, optimised for out-of-the-lab applications that require great freedom of movement for the user, and exceptional signal quality for the researcher. With a simple placement on the arm or waist, it can reliably record 21 channels (extensible to 35) of bipolar electrical biosignals (ExG), analogue biosignals (GSR, RESP, TEMP, etc.), movement activity and location (EMG, IMUs, etc.), behaviour inputs (pedals and push buttons), and communication inputs / outputs (LPT, digital, etc.). Its great multi-sensory versatility, its simplicity of use, comfort for the researcher and for the end-user, as well as its optimisation to work in mobility conditions, open a wide range of possibilities to use it both in the laboratory and in outpatient research applications out of the laboratory.

This biosensor acquisition system comes with the Bitbrain Software Kit for data acquisition and programming, which has a large compatibility with real-time I/O and third-party data processing (LSL, Matlab, Python, BCI2000, OpenVibe, etc). Also, by acquiring the Human Behaviour Research Lab, it can be performed a seamless synchronisation with other human monitoring technologies such as EEG, eye-trackers, among many others.

How to use

Versatile Bio set up tutorial

Learn how to make the set up of the biosignal amplifier Versatile Bio with the following sensors: GSR, ECG, EMG, Resp, Temp and Air flow.

The amplifier can be placed on the arm, waist, leg, etc. and the sensor setup follows the standard procedures with intuitive operation, and with a minimal learning curve. It comes with a powerful software platform to collect data with the help of visual cues to assure quality montage and monitoring.

1. Preparation: Switch on the device and pair it to the computer. With the device already paired, open the viewfinder and select the device.

2. Set up: The configuration depends on the sensors to use. Connect each sensor to the amplifier in its respective connector looking at the corresponding instructions, and activate the selected channel in the viewfinder.

3. Test: Perform relevant tests for each type of sensor. For example, for the breathing sensor, ask the participant to breathe deeply. For the EMG, ask the participant to contract the muscles in the area where the sensor is placed, etc.

4. Recording: Once the correct operation and placement of all the sensors has been verified, you are ready to record your data and export it later.

5. Clean and storage: The device and its sensors can be stored in its case until new use. Remember to charge the equipment before each recording.
